Of them, of course, the most tragic are those of the men who didn't come back. My father was shot down in 1965 and did return in 1973. We were among the lucky families who knew, almost from the beginning, that he'd been captured and was alive. I just want you to know how touched I am by what I've read of your story. Our situations are different, so I can only speculate how you feel, but we have in common deep emotions left over from events that happened more than fifty years ago. I wish you well. My husband is now retired after retiring with 23 years and another 20 years as a contractor. He was an Army Test Pilot and served one tour in Kuwait, one in Iraq and four in Afghanistan. He didn't fly in any but the Kuwait war but did work with the aviation brigade. You never said what became of your mom. As an ex-smoker myself when I read how much she smoked and that she already had a bout of cancer I became worried that maybe she wouldn't live long enough to get the answers she wanted. My heart goes out to her and you and the other children..it was a rotten war as are all of them...all we can do is keep a brave heart and do good on this earth while we're here and create only good memories as often as we're able.
